NURTURING RESILIENCE THROUGH THE PANDEMIC
THIRD CONFERENCE OF ROMANIAN AMERICAN PROFESSIONALS
June 5th 2021
Panel of professionals in legal counseling, development, and public policy:
The final presentation of the panel was that of Marie Skłodowska-Curie MIT postdoctoral fellow and Vice-Chair of the Marie Curie Alumni Association - North America Chapter (MCAA-NA), Ms. Cristina Florea. Her testimony on the career impact of the fellowship went beyond the specificity of her research specialization and showcased how the international academic exposure equipped her with skills beyond her perceived research interest, acquiring interdisciplinary approaches such as computational modeling, or nano-mechanical testing techniques, or skills related to leadership, entrepreneurship, and negotiation. The research fellowship became an international support group for her especially during the pandemic and she became involved with the MCAA-NA, one of the 33 chapters serving the over 17,000 scholars worldwide. The alumni network encourages networking among fellows and their host institutions providing career development webinars and most importantly a continuing anchoring of these researchers in their transnational pursuit of career opportunities. Ms. Florea’s chapter was acknowledged last year during the pandemic as the most active such group within the network.
