NURTURING RESILIENCE THROUGH THE PANDEMIC

THIRD CONFERENCE OF ROMANIAN AMERICAN PROFESSIONALS

June 5th 2021

Panel of professionals in medicine and public health:

The panel of professionals in medicine and public health opened with a presentation by National Institutes of Health, Center for Scientific Review, Scientific Review Officer Dr. Ileana Hancu. It was a tribute to her mentor, the late Professor Gheorghe D. Mateescu, a scientist and Chemistry Professor at Case Western Reserve University who passed away this year at the age of 92. He was the founder of the Romanian Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, an accomplished scientist and most consequential a relentless mentor who left behind countless accomplished scientists spread across the world. The presentation was an occasion to invite participants for a separate virtual symposium honoring the life and achievements of this remarkable scientist, an event organized by the American Romanian Academy of Arts and Sciences the following week on June 9th. The presentation was followed by a moment of silence marking the lives of all those we lost to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
