Ms. Carmen Uscatu is the co-founder and president of “Daruieste Viata”, a Bucharest-based nonprofit that for over a decade dedicated itself to the modernizing and equipping Romanian Oncology departments in the clinics of the most populated cities so that as many patients as possible can benefit from European standard treatments. The organization spearheaded legislative advocacy projects seeking to offer patients access to treatments and a chance to live. Most importantly the organization built the first integrated Oncology and Radiotherapy clinic within the Marie Curie Hospital of Bucharest, using exclusively private donations. It succeeded to mobilize a popular movement backed by an impressive number of private companies, with an empowering can do message that engages everyone in being part a positive transformation, one hospital at a time: “#NoiFacemUnSpital - Împreună câștigăm războiul!”
