Oana Zayic PhD, ADAC, a board member of the Federation of Romanian American Organizations (FORA) and Executive Director of the Heritage Organization of Romanian Americans in Minnesota (HORA), presented updates on the registration of FORA as a 501(c)3, now headquartered in Washington, DC. Oana is the Human Rights Commissioner of City of Chaska and professed active civic involvement in the communities where we life. Her presentation emphasized the values and benefits of the umbrella organization. She spoke of administrative and vertical working groups on topics such as heritage language education. FORA, in collaboration with the French-Romanian Center for Economic and Cultural Cooperation, proposed an amendment to Article 47 of the Romanian Education Law, asking government officials to establish a Romanian National Center for Online Education. Membership is open to all diaspora community nonprofits and the $500 fee gives equal voting rights with the founding entities. Affiliate entities registering for a fee of $100 are beneficiaries of offered training and expertise sharing but are not voting in annual elections.
