About the event

The event highlights the contributions of the leading ladies of our diaspora communities within our host American society. Romanian American women writers and resident artists, researchers, physicians, medical health professionals, attorneys, community leaders and accomplished professionals are featured as honored guests. Their testimonies of resilience and professional accomplishment will resonate with the search for cultural anchoring while leading transnational lives. Each will reflect on the role of ancestral springtime traditions in reshaping the sense of solidarity and belonging within our adoptive “nation of nations.” In addition to the featured guests of previous years, we are formally welcoming several new guests, including the testimonies of second-generation Romanian American youth and their perspectives on the role of their heritage language and culture within their lives. Immigration Research Forum interns conducted interviews with Romanian American adolescent peers looking at the role models and mentors they seek in affirming their unique cultural background.
